In what order does water reach the tap?

In North Cyprus, “it has a water tank” tells you almost nothing on its own. The tank may belong to the whole building or to one flat; water may travel by gravity or by a booster pump (hidrofor); the meter may sit before the tank or on a separate line entirely. Shared building tank or a tank for the flat?

With a shared tank, maintenance, cleaning, electricity and pump responsibility all run through the building management. With a tank belonging to your flat, access and upkeep can be more direct, but the roof or balcony position, the plumbing connection and the separation from neighbouring lines become the things that matter.

What's the quickest way to understand the system?

Ask the seller or the building manager to describe the water line in one minute. A simple drawing showing the mains inlet, main meter, tank, booster pump and flat meter in order is worth more than a long list of features.

A system that works well tends to be invisible. The moment it fails, responsibility and access are what count. What you’re looking for in a home is not a ticked box saying “has a tank”, but a water setup you can understand and whose upkeep is clearly assigned.
